Flame Heating Group is supporting North East cancer charity Fighting All Cancers Together (F.A.C.T.) with an £9,290 donation.

The firm has been fundraising for F.A.C.T. over the course of 2018, as it is the heating and plumbing merchant’s nominated charity for this year.

Flame hosted a series of charitable events, culminating in its annual ‘Flame The Heat Is On’ Racenight at Newcastle Racecourse. HSBC UK matched all donations from the racenight, which contributed to the total amount raised.

Since 2016, Flame has raised in excess of £25,000 for charitable causes, having previously supported Macmillan Cancer Support and South Shields man, Paul George’s ambition to access life-changing treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS), as he has battled it for more than a decade.

Established in 2008, F.A.C.T. supports people living with cancer and their families, through a range of services. It has relationships with health professionals, support groups and services, as well as wider voluntary organisations that help to deliver a range of educational and awareness programmes in the North East. It also operates a number of charity shops across the region.

Joanne Smith, Founder and Chair of the Trustees at F.A.C.T., said: “We are very grateful to Flame in what is a milestone year for F.A.C.T. as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. I am overwhelmed by everyone’s kind donations, which are a massive boost and will support our work in helping people affected by cancer across the North East and in our local communities.”

John Savage, Managing Director of Flame Heating Group, added: “F.A.C.T. is a fantastic charity that does so much across our region, and I am delighted that we have been able to support Joanne and her team with this donation.

“We are dedicated to helping out and raising awareness of deserving, regional causes. Hopefully we can replicate our recent fundraising success to support further North East-based charities and causes in the years to come.”
