Following a significant period of investment and growth in the region, Top 15 national accountancy firm, Haines Watts, has invested in a new state-of-the-art, 500m2 custom-designed office space in Newcastle City Centre.

The office, located on Queens Lane, is the latest exciting development for the business which, following a merger with Gateshead-based firm RHK in April this year, has seen regional headcount grow to 75 and regional turnover increase to over £7 million.

The office has been fitted with the latest technology, including video conferencing and click share screens, to offer flexible and collaborative ways of working. The upgrade marks a significant milestone for Haines Watts it embraces workplace change and targets future growth as part of its long-term regional development plan.

Jonathan Scott, Regional Tax Partner, has been leading the new office move. He said: “We’re delighted with the look and feel of the new office. It’s been a year-long project in which we’ve been searching, designing and working closely with our team to create a workspace which meets the changing requirements of our business.

“From the outset, our goal was to create a space which reflects our values and the Haines Watts ethos of collaborative working and staff wellbeing. From ditching partner offices to building changing rooms with shower facilities for the early risers, we’ve created an environment with our team’s needs front of mind.

“A key part of the whole process has been working with our internal property team comprised of people from different departments and levels, giving everyone a sense of ownership over the plans. I’m confident that it will not only be a place our team will love working in, but somewhere that clients will enjoy visiting for many years to come.”

The new office design was created in conjunction with and interior designer from Ryder Architecture and features bespoke office fixtures, new technology, commissioned wall art, and breakout work and social spaces with TVs, coffee machines, a wine cooler and a pool table.

Donna Bulmer, Regional Managing Partner, added: “This is an exciting time for Haines Watts. To coincide with the office move, we’ve introduced a number of new initiatives which have come from a recent staff engagement project, including flexible working hours, casual Fridays, and new parental leave arrangements. Combined with our accredited national leadership development programme, we’ve no doubt this will help us to attract and retain the best and brightest talent as we look to grow.”
