A family-run, independent estate agency has won a prestigious contract to manage a new development of student accommodation in the heart of Newcastle City Centre.

Chester-le-Street-based BeeMyHome will be managing the new 43-bed St James Street development in a deal worth over £300,000.
Popular with international students studying at both Newcastle and Northumbria Universities, the development, which sits close to Newcastle’s iconic St James Park football ground and within walking distance of all of the city’s shops, bars and restaurants, comprises a mixture of studio and multi-occupancy apartments.

“This is a brand-new market for BeeMyHome,” said Victoria Valentine, director at BeeMyHome.

“We started out as an online-only lettings agency, working with private landlords to help them secure tenants before we expanded into property sales.

“Branching out into student lettings adds another new string to our bow and it is something we are incredibly excited about.”
In order to service this market growth, BeeMyHome has recruited another member of staff who will focus solely on the management of the new development.

Vicky Wyatt has joined the growing team at BeeMyHome in the role of full-time administration assistant. It will be Vicky’s responsibility to meet and greet the students as they arrive for the start of term and handle any queries that they might have.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining BeeMyHome,” Vicky said.

“Estate agency is an entirely new career path for me but I’ve been following the business for a while on social media and I’m excited to become part of the team. This is a period of rapid growth for BeeMyHome, especially with the acquisition of the new student accommodation in Newcastle and I’m delighted that I’m able to be a part of it.”

The popular accommodations have already been filled for the 2018/19 student term so BeeMyHome is now looking ahead to the following year’s term dates and is actively on the lookout for similar student development opportunities in Newcastle and County Durham.

“The uptake has been incredible,” Victoria added.

“The studios and apartments are very modern and have been finished to a high-specification so we have had no trouble at all finding tenants.

“We would definitely be open to expanding this new area of our business and exploring more opportunities in the student lettings market.”

Defining itself as a hybrid between a traditional estate agency and an online property marketer, BeeMyHome was founded in 2014 to service a niche in the North East’s sales and lettings market.

Recently shortlisted in the prestigious Property Marketing Awards 2018, BeeMyHome employs three full-time members of staff and has built up an impressive portfolio of over 130 managed lets and 50 properties to buy.
