It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas As Dacres Lights Up Skipton

Dacre, Son & Hartley's Skipton team

Dacre, Son & Hartley is a key sponsor of this year’s Skipton’s Christmas Lights Switch On, and will be hosting a festive marquee during the event which takes place on Sunday 25th November between 12noon and 6pm, to coincide with the unveiling of the estate agent’s newly refurbished Sheep Street office.

With a packed schedule of entertainment throughout the afternoon, the free event includes a performance from Britain’s Got Talent’s Boogie Storm, who will be headlining on the main stage. The dancers reached the final of the popular TV show in 2016.

Stray FM will be broadcasting live throughout the afternoon and attractions will include brass bands, choirs, singers, dance groups, a Christmas market, Santa’s Grotto, festive boat rides at the Canal Basin, elves workshops, puppet making, circus workshops, fairground rides and lots of tantalising food and drink stalls.

Dacre, Son & Hartley’s marquee will sit directly next to the main stage at the top of the High Street and the well-known property firm will host a competition with prizes from the Coniston Hotel, as well as serving refreshments and offering the opportunity to meet members of Boogie Storm. There will also be cupcake decorating with rocky road cupcakes served to children in the marquee.

The estate agent has recently completed a comprehensive refurbishment programme at its Skipton office which included installing state of the art window displays, new flooring and furniture, an upgraded IT system and a comfortable seating area. In addition, all the external woodwork on the Grade II listed building has been completely restored.

Julia Green, who heads Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Skipton office, said: “This year’s Christmas lights switch-on is set to be the biggest in the event’s history and promises to be a fun-packed day. With so much going on throughout the town, there will definitely be something on offer for everyone.

“As a local business with a longstanding presence in Skipton, it’s a fantastic event for us to support and we’re looking forward to welcoming people into our marquee throughout the day. It also coincides with the refurbishment of our office which given us a fresh, new and modern look, whilst still maintaining the heritage and experience that we are renowned for.”

Visitors will also be able to cheer on participants in the Great Skipton Santa Fun Run, which will start and finish in the town centre for the first time ever, to coincide with the lights switch-on, which is funded as a partnership by Skipton BID and Skipton Town Council. Entry fees from this year’s run will benefit Sue Ryder Manorlands and Yorkshire Cancer Research.
