Lancashire businesses have been urged to take matters into their own hands and be ready for the challenges Brexit may bring.
Businesses are invited to learn from the British Chambers of Commerce about how to tackle the challenges of Brexit head-on at this month’s International Trade Club (ITC) Breakfast Meeting.
With all businesses likely to have to rethink their compliance with Rules of Origin post-Brexit, speaker Anastassia Beliakova, head of trade policy at the British Chambers of Commerce, will outline the current Certificates of Origin system to guests and explain the options for change after Brexit.
She said: “Amidst all the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, it is difficult for companies to understand what to pay attention to, when to start taking action and even what steps to take.
“Businesses need to take matters into their own hands and be ready to act – whatever outcome Brexit will bring.
“To do this they need to understand their exposure to customs declarations, Rules of Origin checks and VAT.”
The ITC meeting is run by the International Business team at East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by local accountants and business advisers, Cassons, part of the Baldwins Group. The club aims to help importers and exporters develop their knowledge of current issues and share their experiences of trading internationally.
As well as Anastassia’s in-depth discussion on Brexit, guests will hear from Managing Director of Mint Business Travel, Steve Hall, who will discuss his experience and will share his top tips on how companies should deal with business travel in today’s world.
Daniel Waller, from the School of Language and Global Studies at the University of Central Lancashire, along with the commercial counsellor from the Turkish Embassy, will provide an insight into the cultural and language aspects of doing business with Turkish partners before opening up the floor for questions.
Anastassia added: “Brexit is a challenge that needs to be met head on – so do attend this event and learn how Brexit may impact you, and how you can prepare.”
The event will welcome members and non-members to its breakfast event on Thursday July 12th at The Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel, in Accrington.
