The managing director of a specialist employment law firm is shortlisted for the Law Society’s prestigious Excellence Awards, the highest accolade for lawyers in England and Wales.
Jodie Hill, founder of Leeds-based Thrive Law, has been shortlisted in the Gazette Legal Personality of the Year category.
Thrive, which launched earlier this year, provides HR services, employment law guidance and insurance, health and safety support, as well as guidance and training on mental health in the workplace.
Commenting on the shortlisting, Jodie Hill said:
“I am thrilled to be shortlisted for this prestigious award, having only recently launched my own law firm, Thrive Law, it’s fantastic to be listed amongst some top names in the legal sector.
“I have been working tirelessly on the campaign to make mental health first aiders compulsory in businesses and have received more than 1000 signatures. I’m really grateful to be shortlisted for the award, but what is even more exciting is that the cause that I and many others feel so passionately about is receiving this fantastic platform.
“I truly believe that together we can make a change for the better when it comes to the way in which mental health is viewed in the workplace”.
The awards, which will take place on 17 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London, celebrate excellence across the legal profession.
The Gazette Legal Personality of the Year category looks for legal professionals who are ‘influential, inspirational and in the public eye’. The category aims to recognise those who have made an outstanding public contribution to the profession.
Having specialised in employment law, HR and mental health throughout her career, Jodie established the company to utilise her expertise to help businesses with a transparent and jargon-free approach.
A strong advocate for mental health awareness, Jodie has been nationally recognised for her campaign to make mental health training compulsory in businesses.
Law Society president Christina Blacklaws said:

Jodie was also nominated for the Woman Lawyer of the Year category.
