Miller Homes appoints new managing director for the North West

Miller Homes, one of the UK’s largest national house builders, has appointed Ian Smith as its new Managing Director for the North West region. The appointment further supports Miller Homes’ commitment to driving growth in the region and its desire to fulfil the demand for its award-winning homes.

In his new role, Ian will have overall responsibility for the region’s performance and delivery of the company’s business plan in line with the wider Miller Homes corporate strategy. Based from the company’s offices in Newton le Willows and covering a territory encompassing the North West of England and North Wales, Ian will oversee all business operations from land acquisitions to the successful construction and sale of new homes, whilst ensuring that high levels of customer service are maintained throughout.

Ian, a graduate in Town Planning from the University of Wales in Cardiff, brings more than 25 years of house building experience, almost 20 of which have been spent in managing director roles. Ian joins from Taylor Wimpey where over a 10 year period he was Managing Director for three different businesses including the North West regional business, a position he had held since 2012.

Prior to Taylor Wimpey, Ian held senior positions across the UK, working with other house builders including Bryant Homes. He has also worked as a town planning consultant in London and as Head of Development on complex renewable energy projects.

Steve Birch, Managing Director of Miller Homes’ North Region, comments; “We’re delighted to welcome Ian to the team and look forward to continuing our success in the North West. Ian is a proven operator with significant experience of leading teams in the new homes marketplace. We are excited by the opportunity that this appointment brings and look forward to Ian helping us to further develop our presence in the North West.”

Miller Homes has more than six active developments across the North West and has recently started work on two new developments in Warrington and Chorley. There are also plans in place for additional significant developments which will see more than 300 homes built across the region in 2017.
