Following continued growth in the UK’s biomass fuel market and to further support ambitious expansion plans, Yorkshire-based, Y Pellets, has appointed Mathew Thomas as Business Development Manager for Southern England and Wales.
With extensive experience in the energy and renewables industry, Mathew will support the company’s growing sales and distribution capability across southern parts of the UK, as well as develop new business contracts with private and commercial customers operating in industries such as leisure & tourism, agriculture, healthcare and the public sector.
Mathew, from Suffolk, has extensive experience of the UK’s renewables and clean energy market having worked previously for biomass, solar PV and heat-pump installation organisations. His first-hand knowledge of the sector will now enable the Goole-based company to expand its offering and deliver tonnes of biomass wood pellets to new customers and organisations in the South and South West regions.

This could be a local SME to a large manufacturer or rural agricultural producer, therefore serving those clients to the south of Goole, effectively and efficiently, was always part of our plans.”
Y Pellets is due to start construction of a new, advanced manufacturing wood refinery in East Yorkshire. The company is part of a larger European organisation which currently transports sustainably-sourced wood pellets direct to its dedicated 5,000 tonne storage facility at the Port of Goole. The new plant, which is the first of its kind in the UK and only the second of its kind to be built in the world due to new technologies and patented processes, will see pellet production start in Summer 2019.
