Stagecoach Yorkshire ‘customer service champion’ rewarded with international award win

Stagecoach Yorkshire’s ‘social media guru’ has been put in the international spotlight at a glittering ceremony after winning a major customer service award.

Carol Jones won the Customer Service award in the Stagecoach Group Champions Awards for her work managing Stagecoach Yorkshire’s Twitter account.

The annual ceremony honours the excellence of Stagecoach’s workforce from support teams to frontline workers across the company’s bus and rail businesses in the UK and North America.

Now in their eighth year, the awards recognise the ‘exceptional people’ who make a real difference to the business and its customers every day across six key areas – Customer Service, Safety, Health, Community, Environment, and Innovation.

Carol won £1,000 prize money and a two-night stay in London incorporating the award ceremony at The Roof Gardens, Kensington after being nominated in the Customer Service category.

She was presented with her trophy by former TOWIE star and fashion celebrity Jessica Wright, who helped celebrate the style of Stagecoach bus passengers across the UK earlier this year when she launched the search for her #SquadOnBoard – customers chosen for their style, creativity and personality.
Carol said: “I am really proud to have won – and a little in shock!

“I really enjoy the role and being part of such a great team. I just like helping people and try to answer any queries customers have as quickly as possible.

“I like to be friendly and personable – it’s good to keep things easy-going and it’s always nice when you can have a chat or a bit of laugh with people online, too.”

Carol was nominated by Stagecoach Yorkshire Marketing Manager Louise Holroyde who said: “The Champions Awards are about celebrating those who have delivered above and beyond expectations over the past year – something Carol does as our social media guru day in and day out.

“She ensures our Twitter feed is informative for passengers with travel updates and by sharing our news, events and campaigns and using it to engage with our passengers, and put the ‘people’ side of our business in the social media spotlight, too.”

Matt Davies, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “Our business is all about local people delivering services to local communities so for Carol’s hard work and dedication to be showcased at an international level like this is fantastic.

“We value our people and are proud of their performances and achievements so the whole team at Stagecoach Yorkshire is absolutely thrilled that Carol’s efforts, enthusiasm and customer excellence have been rewarded with this major accolade.”
