Tsingtao & Ping Pong Fight Club bounce back into Leeds

The popular Ping Pong Fight Club is returning to Leeds with China’s best-known beer band, Tsingtao (pronounced Ching Dow).

Following its successful debut in the city last year, what was scheduled to be a one-off event is now being brought back to Canal Mills for another battle of inter-company rivalry, where the ping pong bragging rights are at stake.

Taking place on October 25th, Ping Pong Fight Club is being sponsored by Tsingtao, the world’s second largest beer brand. 14 tables will play host to 64 ‘gladiators’ from 16 of the city’s businesses from start-ups to sector leaders, as they battle it out to be crowned Ping Pong Fight Club champions of Leeds.

Last year’s event saw Sky Betting and Gaming win the coveted champions title, scooping the glory ahead of teams from Emmerdale, John Lewis and Brass Agency amongst others.

With hundreds of supporters expected to cheer on their work colleagues, the event also offers a host of fun activities alongside the main tournament. Entertainment includes social ping pong zones for friendly grudge matches, going head-to-head with a ping pong robot in the ‘Pongbot’ Challenge, buddy-up doubles, Tsingtao’s Beer Pong Championships and even virtual reality ping pong.

Guests will also be able to enjoy pop-up bars and street food, face painters for battle scars and butterflies, and energetic soundtracks spun by the Ping Pong Fight Club DJs.

Companies can enter a team of four players with a range of packages from ‘The Lightweight’ (up to 10 supporters and 4 team players) to ‘The Rookie’ (up to 30 supporters and 4 team players) – all include a Tsingtao Beer, bespoke company Ping Pong Fight Club t-shirts and headbands.

Organiser and founder of Ping Pong Fight Club, Ade Leigh, says: “Last year’s Ping Pong Fight Club in Leeds was the first to be staged outside of London and it’s great to be bringing it back to the city.

“It’s perfect for the city’s mix of businesses, whether they’re maverick start-ups, energetic creatives or industry-leading professional services firms. The event encourages team-work and is a great networking opportunity.”

Mark Nicholson, brand manager, Tsingtao Beer says: “We’re looking forward to seeing the different teams pick-up their paddles and battle it out. Whether people are seasoned pros or have never played before, it’s all about having a go and experiencing a taste of something different.”
