Wakefield Bondholders, the not for profit organisation established to support the growth and regeneration of the Wakefield district by promoting it as a great place to visit, invest and live, has appointed Melissa Armitage as Lead for Sales and Membership.

Melissa will be responsible for growing the membership of Wakefield Bondholders, which currently boasts 150 private sector businesses and public sector partners. Managing the day-to-day running of the scheme, Melissa will also be responsible for shaping and delivering the membership engagement strategy.

Melissa comments: “Being born and raised in Wakefield has left me with a real soft spot for our district which is vibrant and full of opportunity – not just for business and potential investors, but also residents and visitors too. Wakefield has something for everyone, with bustling retail centres, a varied leisure scene and strong cultural attractions. Together with its solid infrastructure and key sector expertise there really are no barriers to our continued growth and increasingly prosperous future.”

“I’m proud to be an ambassador for Wakefield, and I’m looking forward to working for, and helping to shape, an organisation which has such a significant and positive impact on our district.”

Adrian Spawforth, Chair of Wakefield Bondholders comments: “Melissa is a very welcome addition to the team at Wakefield Bondholders and joins us at a very exciting time. Her role as Lead for Sales and Membership will accelerate the future growth of Wakefield Bondholders, not just by helping us to recruit new members but also retaining those that have already shown their commitment and passion for the district.

Members commit their time to help shape key sectors through sector marketing groups and also provide the funds that enable Wakefield Bondholders to showcase the district to a national and international audience. They are helping us to shout about what makes the Wakefield district a great place to live, invest and visit whilst also creating a real appetite for further investment.

With previous roles in Project Management, Sales and Business Development, Melissa is perfectly placed to support what is sure to be a bright future for the Wakefield district.
