Doncaster-based Riverside Motor Group has announced its expansion to cover all four corners of Yorkshire with the acquisition of Harratts Volvo in Wakefield. Adding to its existing retailers in North, South and East Yorkshire, the Group’s Volvo representation now include Doncaster, Hull and Wakefield.
Mark Denton, Managing Director at Riverside Motor Group, said: “The acquisition expands our Volvo footprint into West Yorkshire, giving us greater access to the M1/M62 corridor and enabling us to develop the Volvo brand even further throughout Yorkshire.”
Riverside Motor Group has a long-standing heritage with Volvo and has represented the premium Swedish brand since 1982. The new business complements Riverside’s two existing Volvo dealerships in Doncaster and Hull and the growth will enhance their strong presence across Yorkshire.
Mark Denton also said: “We’ve come a long way from being Top Dealer in Zone 23 back in 1984 to becoming the National Winner of the prestigious Dealer of the Year Award by Volvo Car UK on four occasions. Over the years, we’ve had multiple awards for service and business excellence and we’ve joined the Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups.
“But we’ve stayed true to our Yorkshire roots and we’ve kept our feet on the ground – we are still a privately owned and run business and we always put the customers at the heart of what we do.”
As part of the plans for a seamless transition, the Group has retained all members of staff and they will continue to look after the loyal Volvo customer base in Wakefield and the region.
The retailer is planning for a significant showroom refurbishment in the near future as part of Volvo’s new retail concept, also known as Volvo Retail Experience (VRE). The aim of the redesign is to make customers feel relaxed and at ease in an environment that provides flexible waiting, working and assessment areas.
