Jarrow-based Wescott Industrial Services have appointed Lee Bullock as Sales and Proposals Manager.
Lee, who has returned to his native South Shields after an adventurous career overseas, brings some 30 years of experience of the coatings industry to the position having moved from his previous position as Area Manager with Felling-based AkzoNobel.
He commented, “Many years ago, Tom (Whittelton, Wescott’s Operations Director) and I trained together as amateur boxers and I knew Mark (Duffy, Wescott’s Managing Director) from working in Angola and Nigeria, so I know the company very well and jumped at the chance to join them.”
Lee has worked in the coatings industry from an early age joining South Shields-based Palmers Corrosion Control after serving his time as a plater in the local shipyards. After eight years, he left for work in the Far East and from there, moving from the technical side of the industry over to Sales, onto the Middle East and West Africa before transferring back to the UK in 2017.
Mark Duffy, Managing Director of Wescott Industrial Services, said, “Lee’s experience and knowledge of paint manufacturing gives us a tremendous advantage when negotiating with clients in that we can now offer knowledge of state-of-art coatings to our clients coupled with the very latest access and preparation technologies. It’s a highly competitive industry so being able to differentiate our service from competitors is a great benefit when customers are now awarding contracts on quality of service rather than solely on price. ”
Lee added. “I’m obviously delighted to be joining Wescott at such an exciting time in the company’s development. We are expanding and growing from just a coatings company, although this will always be the core element to our operations, to an integrated Asset Integrity Management company. Our sphere of operations is also growing considerably from predominantly UK projects to European, Middle East and now Australia.”
Established in 2010, Wescott Industrial Services work primarily in the Offshore, Transport Infrastructure and Industrial Facilities sectors, enjoying an annual turnover of over £5m and employing some 50 full time managerial, supervisory and multi discipline operatives with the ability to employ temporary onsite crews employed for specific projects to suit requirements. As of 30 June 2018 the company has enjoyed working over 950,000 hours LTI free. The company has their own training subsidiary at Jarrow providing rope access and safety training.
