Yorkshire dating serivce to host exclusive event at Ripon Races

Single racegoers could make their hearts flutter by attending Finding Mr Darcy’s (FMD) exclusive dating event in a private box at Ripon Races on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 August. The event is one in a series organised by FMD where singles can meet like-minded potential partners in a relaxed and informal atmosphere whilst taking part in an activity and having fun.

FMD is the brainchild of Pateley Bridge-based mum-of-two Claire Charlesworth, who became disillusioned with online dating following her divorce. She spotted a gap in the market for face-to-face dating events where like-minded people could meet in a group with activities providing a focus and a friendly, fun, relaxed atmosphere; enabling natural conversation to flow. Previous events have included clay pigeon shooting in North Yorkshire and a crossbow, archery and air rifle experience at Hazelwood Castle. More events are planned for the future, all Yorkshire-based.

FMD founder, Claire Charlesworth, said: “Our events take the doubt out of dating – you get to know the real person by meeting them face-to-face which is different to scrolling through online dating sites. There’s none of the pressure of one-to-one dates, everyone meets and mingles in a group at the events and I get to know everyone and can make personal introductions. After that, it’s up to natural chemistry but we have had some great successes so far.”

The ‘Day at Ripon Races’ event starts at 11.30am with a champagne reception hosted by the FMD team who will be on hand throughout the day. A buffet lunch will be served ahead of the first race at 2.10pm allowing plenty of time for bets to be placed and the spirit of the races to the enjoyed. In between races, attendees will be able to relax and socialise over a light afternoon tea consisting of tea, scones with fresh cream and preserves and an assortment of mini cakes. The last race of the day runs at 5.35pm with the opportunity to continue the outing with a trip into Ripon to sample its excellent bars, pubs and restaurants.

Tickets to the event, which include experiencing the races from a private box, champagne reception, buffet lunch and afternoon tea, cost £150 each and are available via the FMD website. Those buying two tickets qualify for one extra ticket for free so there’s no excuse not to bring friends along.

FMD also offers annual membership priced at £50 per year which includes a bespoke matchmaking service and 1-2-1 dating advice sessions, along with a host of other benefits.
