Yorkshire’s Y Pellets Drives Forward UK Growth With Further Investment

Y Pellets has expanded its logistics fleet following business growth and expansion of distribution in England, Wales and southern Scotland.

Yorkshire-based Y Pellets has made further investment in its logistics fleet following growing sales, business growth and expansion of its biomass distribution capability across the UK.

Delivering to homes and businesses nationwide, the Goole company has invested in additional new, legal-for-trade delivery vehicles in order to maintain growing sales of biomass wood pellets across England, Wales and parts of southern Scotland.

Two, new, eight-wheeled trucks are in addition to a five-strong fleet and have been purchased following a series of business wins over recent months including a leading, UK-wide care home provider and multiple local authority schools.

The investment also comes in advance of the construction of a new multi-million pound, six acre, advanced manufacturing wood refinery plant at Goole 36 industrial zone in East Yorkshire.

Y Pellets’ Managing Director , Neil Holland, commented, “We have ambitious growth plans, especially in the south of England and north of the Borders, however the quality of service that we deliver to existing customers’ has also led to an increased number of referrals and new client wins across all areas of the UK.

“The trucks will expand our distribution reach further, especially in more remote or rural areas, and allow our drivers to go the extra mile in terms of first class efficiency and service. We are now gearing up for our busiest time of year with many customers pre-ordering their fuel requirements, so it is an ideal time to increase the fleet, invest in our future growth and ensure customers continue to receive reliable and on-time deliveries the same as last year’s winter season.

“As with our existing vehicles, the new trucks have been customised to feature state-of-the-art electronic weighing systems and advanced onboard technology meaning that customers get the exact amount that they order and pay for. As they are 100% our own and not subcontracted, this has huge benefits and cost savings for our customers as inconsistencies in quantity could be anything from 2-10% if third party haulage suppliers are used.”

To further support the investment, Y Pellets has also appointed Mathew Thomas as Business Development Manager for Southern England and Wales. With extensive experience in the energy and renewables industry, he is now looking to develop new business contracts with private and commercial customers in industries including leisure & tourism, agriculture, care and the public sector.

Y Pellets is fast becoming one of the UK’s leading wood pellet supply companies and one of the best within the biomass energy sector both in the UK and Europe. It will invest over £10 million this year alone in constructing a new wood refinery, revolutionising supply and the quality of biomass wood pellets for private and commercial customers.
