A little ginspiration from Cumbrian foodies

Gin, Clementine & Cranberry Fruit Cake

Two ginspirational Cumbrian foodies have got together to create the ultimate boozy cake…

Kendal’s cake maker extraordinaire Lisa Smith, owner of Ginger Bakers and Ulverston’s ginfusion duo Andy & Zoe Arnold-Bennett, owners of Shed 1 Distillery, have got together to create a rather tasty gin infused fruit cake… which is just the thing to enjoy with a cuppa or for that matter with something a little stronger on these long winter nights cosied up in front of the fire…

The new creation is a Gin, Clementine & Cranberry Fruit Cake… The foodie duo are sure you will agree they have nailed the art of the boozy fruitcake… with this deliciously tempting fruit cake… brim full of cranberries, citrus fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg and a secret selection of other spices all nicely rounded off with a tot or two of Shed 1’s Festive Tipple, which gives it a boozy hit with hints of cloves, sultanas and cherries, lightly sweetened orange and lemon zest.

Lisa Smith of Ginger Bakers commented: “This collaboration is a cross-industry innovation to help develop better products exploiting both businesses expertise and experience in their fields, and bringing creative, sustainable and exciting new products to the Cumbrian marketplace. At Ginger Bakers, we love to surprise our customers with new and interesting flavours. Shed 1 Distillery produces incredibly smooth and expertly made gins and I am delighted to be collaborating with them on this exciting and innovate project and we are excited to see what else we can develop together in the coming months.’’

Andy Arnold-Bennett of Shed 1 Distillery said: ‘’When the idea was mooted, we jumped at it! To work with such an established, highly respected entrepreneur like Lisa is not something you get asked to do every day. Here at Shed 1 Distillery we are known for our bold flavours and interesting take on all things gin. We, like Ginger Bakers, believe in sustainability and Cumbrian cooperation. It’s been a pleasure and we look forward to working together to create more gin-ger-licious creations!”
