Advanced Power Technology joins the Zero Carbon Delivery Framework

Essentia Trading Limited recently awarded Advanced Power Technology (APT) a place on their Zero Carbon Delivery Framework. ETL’s framework allows public sector entities a quick and compliant avenue to meet the UK’s mandate to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Advanced Power Technology are excited to offer their expertise in energy efficient IT infrastructure to a wide range of public sector organisations.

Launched in January this year, the Zero Carbon Delivery Framework will give UK public sector bodies access to zero and low-carbon technology and infrastructure from 27 approved suppliers, including APT. The scheme is being managed by a subsidiary of the Guy’s and St. Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust, known as, Essentia Trading Ltd. This framework is set to run for four years.

“Our Place on this Framework is increasingly relevant as the power consumption of IT nears a staggering 10% of global energy production”. John Thompson MD, APT. It is vital that new builds and infrastructure refreshes incorporate the most energy efficiency technology to help cut the environmental cost of IT. This Framework will allow Advanced Power to remove complexity and provide a faster route to market for technologies that will help meet their public sector customer’s sustainability goals.

APT has a proven track record of reducing the carbon impact of IT infrastructure. New installs or data centre refreshes typically provide efficiency increases of between 20-40% while also increasing resilience. Operating expenditure also drops by the same margin.

APT specifies and deploys high efficiency power and cooling technologies including Free-Cooling, Indirect Fresh-Air Free Cooling, Liquid Cooling, and In-Row Cooling. These technologies all offer significant improvements in cooling efficiency of up to 90% when compared to legacy systems. The proper management of airflow within the data centre is also vital for efficient operation.

Improving the efficiency of electrical infrastructure using high efficiency UPS can also help increase total facility efficiency by up to 10%. The deployment of highly efficient Prefabricated Data centres is also a fantastic way to increase resilience and efficiency with minimal onsite build time.

“Although it is possible for IT or facilities staff to calculate the energy consumption of their IT infrastructure, it’sa significant challenge for them to identify and successfully implement suitable, more energy efficient technologies. Having the support of Advanced Power Technology makes it easy for public sector organisations to choose upgrades which offer the greatest C0² reductions,” John Thompson, Managing Director of Advanced Power Technology.

APT provides initial consultation and specification, through to project implementation and continued support. We are an independent supplier with the freedom to select the best technologies from leading manufacturers. We are also a Schneider Electric Elite Data Centre and Software Partner so can therefore specify complete solutions from one vendor, that are designed as complete systems and approved to perform within the required parameters.

The Zero carbon framework is a one-stop approach that enables clients to procure holistic low/zero carbon technology solutions from efficient IT infrastructure to Solar PV, efficient lighting, and everything in between.
