Barking up the right tree! Housebuilder supports local dog rescue kennel

Leading housebuilder, David Wilson Homes North East has donated £500 to Stray Action For Dogs. With a large number of dog owners choosing to reside at its Elba Park because of the multiple walks available in the newly created park, supporting Stray Action For Dogs is a cause very close to the hearts of the established community. The charity, located in County Durham, close to the development helps to care for and rehome stray and unwanted dogs.

Simon Donnelly, Chairperson at Stray Action For Dogs, recently visited Elba Park with Mouse the Jack Russell cross Dacshund to collect a cheque from Sales Manager Becky Mortimer. The Charity is Supporters of Stray & Abandoned Dogs (SoSAD) who support and fundraise for the rescue dogs looked after by Stray Action for Dogs (SAD) by providing much needed financial support towards vet fees, vaccines and other treatments for the rescue dogs at the kennels.

Simon Donnelly, Chairperson at Stray Action For Dogs, commented: “We are extremely grateful to David Wilson Homes for this donation. Stray Action For Dogs is a small charity with a big heart and works hard to provide care, rehabilitation and also re-home stray dogs in the region. As a charity we are run entirely by volunteers and 100% of all the money we raise goes to helping the dogs.”

Becky Mortimer, Sales Manager at Elba Park, said: “It is very important to us that we work with the local communities in which we build, so we are very proud to have donated to such a worthy cause. It was brilliant to have Simon and Mouse visit Elba Park, they really enjoyed the trip and we hope many of the other dogs benefit from the donation and hard work the charity puts in to rehoming their dogs.”

Elba Park offers a range of four and five bedroom homes located on Chester Road in Houghton Le Spring. Homes are available to purchase from £218,995 and is ideal for families looking for more space in a stunning semi-rural setting.
