Leading 5-star housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, is welcoming a new Head to its Commercial team.
29-year-old Alex joined the North East division as Commercial Manager in November 2022 before being made Head of Commercial. Alex brings with him extensive industry experience and a strong track record of success. His career journey includes a breadth of experience in quantity surveying, housebuilding, land acquisitions, and site starts. Leaving Northumbria University with a first class honours degree in Quantity Surveying, Alex began his career for a local civil engineering firm which saw him involved in groundworks projects including the construction of new roads, sewers and plot work schemes.
Alex first embarked on his career in housebuilding in 2016, serving three years at Story Homes as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, and then Quantity Surveyor. He then moved to Keepmoat Homes as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, where he progressed to Land and Partnerships Manager before joining Barratt Developments. Impressing the directors at Barratt Developments North East, he quickly progressed from Commercial Manager to Head of Commercial in less than seven months.
As Head of Commercial, Alex will oversee many factors attributed to cost-effective building, including quantity surveying, procurement and material buying, amongst others. His new role will see him lead the team to achieve targets relating to accurate build cost assessments for land acquisition, budget control through the lifecycle of developments, and managing key relationships. Alex aims to achieve key targets for growth and success, working closely with the Divisional board of directors. He envisions a leading commercial team within the division, characterised by strong relationships, repeat business, and mutual growth with suppliers and subcontractors.
