NaughtOne gears up for growth with new Yorkshire factory

Yorkshire-based furniture brand, NaughtOne, is celebrating the opening of a new factory in the region, setting the stage for future growth

Yorkshire-based furniture brand, NaughtOne, is celebrating the opening of a new factory in the region, setting the stage for future growth. The new 33,000 square foot building, Norquest House in Birstall, is almost triple the size of the brand’s former production home in Elland, bringing its production, warehousing and customer experience together under one roof for the first time.

Norquest House will greatly enhance the NaughtOne team’s working environment, with increased space and improved amenities. The move supports faster, more reliable service for customers and gives the brand a dedicated space to welcome clients and partners from around the world to experience its craft manufacturing first-hand.

The new state-of-the-art facility also reflects NaughtOne’s ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental impact. Norquest House is a fully renewable-energy production site with an A-graded EPC rating, meaning it is highly energy efficient and designed to minimise energy consumption and emissions. It’s set to significantly reduce the company’s carbon footprint due to its operational efficiency and location. Situated closer to major suppliers and customers, it will reduce mileage by on average 8,500 miles per year.

The site will become NaughtOne’s ‘Centre for Excellence’, setting the global standards for production. From here, the brand will manufacture furniture for its UK and European customers alongside developing new products and upholstery for future launches. The facility includes a spacious production floor, warehousing, large canteen, meeting spaces, wellness room, mothering room and a new Custom Studio, strengthening the ability to create tailored furniture solutions for customers worldwide.

Norquest House is NaughtOne’s fifth new opening in the last three years, with the business moving into its Harrogate HQ and London Showroom in 2024, before unveiling its new Chicago and New York showrooms in 2025.

The brand recently celebrated its 21st year in business, having been designing and manufacturing furniture for commercial spaces since 2005. Founded in Yorkshire, the team still works to the founding ethos to design beautifully simple pieces, made to withstand time, trends and wear.

Nadean McNaught, Managing Director of NaughtOne says: “This is a big moment for NaughtOne as we step into our 22nd year. Having grown out of our much-loved Elland factory, we’d reached the point where we needed more space – to support the future growth of the business and further enhance experiences for our team and customers. There was no question that it had to be in Yorkshire, staying true to our roots is important to us and we couldn’t be happier in our new home.”

Rob Hamilton, Director of Global Operations at NaughtOne added: “Moving our production operation into such a large space was no mean feat and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, particularly our operations team for their adaptability throughout the move. We’re settling in well, shipping products across the continent and enjoying even closer collaboration with our office colleagues in Harrogate. Exciting times ahead!”

NaughtOne celebrated the official opening of Norquest House with its full team at an internal celebration in September.
