Sheffield-headquartered Fulcrum Group has appointed experienced utilities and infrastructure leader Jonathan Chapman as Executive Chairman as the business targets further growth across the UK’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
A Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 35 years’ experience, Chapman joins the Group as it embarks on a new three-year growth strategy focused on expanding its integrated service offering and supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of critical infrastructure assets.
His appointment comes at a time of increasing investment in the UK’s energy infrastructure, with growing demand for grid connections, renewable energy projects, battery storage facilities and industrial and commercial developments.
Chapman’s career spans the water, gas, power and telecommunications sectors, with experience across engineering, project delivery and client-side operations. He previously founded and led the UK business of Burns & McDonnell, growing it from a start-up into a 200-strong organisation with revenues approaching £100m.
In his new role, Chapman will work with Fulcrum’s Board and executive leadership team to support the delivery of the Group’s long-term growth strategy.
Through its Fulcrum, Dunamis and Maintech Power businesses, the Group provides specialist expertise in multi-utility infrastructure, High Voltage electrical networks, asset maintenance and engineering services, enabling customers to access end-to-end support from initial connection and construction through to maintenance, upgrades and asset replacement.
Jonathan Chapman said: “Fulcrum is a business with a proud heritage, a highly respected brand and a strong platform for growth. What particularly attracted me to the role was the breadth of expertise that already exists across the Group.
“Customers increasingly want partners who can support them throughout the lifecycle of an asset rather than providing a single service at a single point in time. Fulcrum is uniquely positioned to bring those capabilities together, creating greater value for customers and building long-term relationships.
“The opportunities emerging are significant, and I look forward to working alongside the Board and executive team to support the next phase of the Group’s growth.”
Jonathan Turner, CEO of Bayford Group, a major shareholder in Fulcrum Group and a Board Director, added: “Jonathan brings an exceptional combination of sector knowledge, leadership experience and strategic insight. His understanding of the utilities, infrastructure and energy markets, together with his proven ability to grow and develop businesses, make him the ideal Executive Chair for Fulcrum.
“As the market continues to evolve, we see significant opportunities to further strengthen our position by offering customers a more integrated service across the full asset lifecycle. Jonathan shares that vision, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Group.”
In addition to his role at Fulcrum Group, Chapman serves as Vice Chair of CIGRE UK and continues to support leadership development and industry engagement across the utilities and infrastructure sectors.
