Mill Gate shopping centre launches new interactive video to make centre accessible to all

Mill Gate Shopping Centre in Bury has launched a new interactive video to assist people with additional access needs, when preparing for a trip to an unfamiliar place.

The video uses real life footage of the centre and uses that same style of navigation as Google Maps to let shoppers select the routes they would take around the centre. Visitors can choose how they will be arriving at the centre, which entrance they’d like to use and where they plan to visit. The footage takes the visitor along the exact route they will take to ensure they can get to each and every store or location.

Marie Gribben, Mill Gate Shopping Centre Manager said “We are committed to making the centre as accessible as possible for all our visitors and we believe this new video will really help to take the stress out of planning a visit for people with particular needs.”

The centre car park has over 30 disabled parking spaces. Shopmobility is located opposite the car park exit where both motorised and manual wheelchairs can be hired. A small amount of manual wheelchairs can also be hired from Customer Services, which is located on Minden Parade.

And with over 90% of centre staff being World Host trained this means that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver first-class customer service to all customers that need it.

The new video can be found on the shopping centre’s website on the ‘Information’ page as part of the accessibility section and also on the ‘Visiting Us’ page
