Charity fundraising motors on for Leeds vehicle rental firm

Leeds-based Nexus Vehicle Rental, the UK’s leading tech-driven business mobility provider, has taken its fundraising total past £17,000 in the second year of its charity partnership with St Gemma’s Hospice.

So far this year employees have held donation days, entered raffles, taken on the Leeds Half Marathon and completed a ten-mile rowing challenge across Lake Windermere. Nexus staff will continue raising funds for St Gemma’s – Yorkshire’s largest hospice – through a variety of activities during the final six months of 2018.

In addition to fundraising activity, Nexus staff have contributed 24 hours of volunteering time and donated 35 bags of clothes for St Gemma’s shops in 2018 to date.

Nexus’ Charity Committee has worked closely with St Gemma’s to coordinate events throughout the ongoing partnership after the charity was chosen through a vote by Nexus staff.

St Gemma’s Hospice offers expert care, tailored to the needs of individual people, at no charge and relies on community support and donations to help raise around £9m each year to keep the service running.

David Brennan, CEO at Nexus Vehicle Rental, who took part in a 200-mile cycle ride with the Harrogate MAMILs for the hospice earlier this month, said: “Since we launched our partnership with St Gemma’s last year I have been immensely proud of everyone at Nexus. The team has really embraced fundraising activities and gone to great lengths to support what is truly an excellent cause, and one which is so local to us.

“To have raised more than £17,000, which will all go towards ensuring this vitally important charity can continue to provide excellent care and support to local people, is extremely rewarding, and to have been able to have some fun along the way is an added bonus.”

The partnership between Nexus and St Gemma’s Hospice is the latest fundraising venture by the business mobility provider after it raised £12,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in 2016.
