Increasingly recognised for its growing digital eco-system, Calderdale will become the venue for a three-day Digital Shift Summit taking place at the Leeds Beckett University Business Centre, Halifax – Piece Mill from 27 – 29 September.
The perfect opportunity for businesses with a digital focus that are looking to embrace innovation, the three-day event will provide access to advice, information and knowledge through a series of workshops.
Delivered by experts, the Summit will offer participants the help they need to create new ideas, put in place processes to improve sales and focus on future growth.
Free for eligible businesses to access, the Digital Shift Summit is delivered in partnership with Calderdale Council, Leeds Beckett University and AD:VENTURE, the ERDF funded programme that provides support for start-ups and young organisations across the Leeds City Region.
During day one of the Summit, digital businesses will take part in a series of introductory workshops focusing on topics including digital techniques, funding and investment for growing businesses. Each two-hour workshop will provide businesses with information, case studies and top tips.
Day two will invite 12 digital businesses that are interested in improving communication to join a full-day workshop run by academic expert, Paul Rhodes, to look at how to develop a strong business pitch that can be used at networking events, presenting in public, sales meetings and when writing quotes to respond to tenders.
The final day of the Summit will welcome 10 businesses who are developing a new digital product or service to a full-day Product Development workshop. Leeds Beckett University will be joined by 10 industry experts to provide businesses with the opportunity to learn about how to develop digital product, implementing innovation, analysing, marketing and securing business finance.
During this final session, each business will meet up to five experts for an hour to gain one-to-one mentoring including advice on how to put top tips into practice to allow each organisation to reach its potential.
Business Engagement Manager, Deborah Hetherington, comments: “Calderdale has a growing digital eco-system and we want to be a part of that here at Leeds Beckett. There is a lot going on here and an event like this will both highlight that activity and encourage other businesses to come and see what the fuss is about.”
“At the event I am looking forward to physically seeing the businesses I have been working with over the past several months gaining priceless insight from industry leaders. I have witnessed the speakers’ abilities to impart valuable knowledge to those starting out on the entrepreneurial journey, and they are both exceptional and passionate about it.”
With high profile speakers and guests including Google Digital Garage, Angel Groups, BJSS, North Invest, Yorkshire Bank and Northern Power House Investment Fund, it is anticipated that this three-day Summit will attract great attention, so businesses are encouraged to book their places to avoid disappointment.
