Don’t miss 14th August deadline to enter Vernon’s Community Awards

Previous winner of a Vernon Community Award, Millie's Trust

The deadline to enter Vernon Building Society’s annual Community Awards is fast-approaching.

Applications are open to not-for-profit groups and charities until 14th August.

The Vernon is offering £10,000 to local organisations that are dedicated to supporting the local Stockport community.

Over eight years the local building society has donated over £80,000 to worthy causes throughout the borough. Previous winners include Millie’s Trust, Smart Works and Stockport LGBT+ Youth.

Alexander Deakin, marketing and brand manager at Vernon, said: “There are some amazing charities and not-for-profit organisations making a huge difference to the lives of Stockport residents, but fundraising efforts have been hit hard in 2020.

“We want to help. As a mutual, Vernon is committed to serving our members and passionate about supporting our local community, as we’ve been doing since 1924.

“If you run a local community group, don’t miss your chance to enter this year’s awards.”

How to enter

Organisations can apply online by 14th August via the Vernon Building Society website.

To be eligible they must be based in, or benefit, the postcode areas SK1, SK2, SK3, SK4, SK5, SK6, SK7, SK8 or SK12.

Applications supporting individuals or individual sponsorships, political activities, promotion of religious causes, activities that benefit animals or commercial enterprises won’t be considered.

Once applications have been received, 14 organisations will be shortlisted as finalists in the Community Awards. Finalists will be awarded a minimum of £200 to a maximum of £1,500.
