Santa’s sleigh may be the most famous red vehicle delivering presents at Christmas, but today Ferrari cars were dashing through town with some extra special gifts in tow.
As a surprise for the children supported by Candlelighters, a brand new F8 Spider arrived this morning at their family support centre, on Woodhouse Square, Leeds, delivering a Christmas tree and a selection of Ferrari teddy bears and colouring sets, on behalf of nearby JCT600 Brooklands – Ferrari and Ferrari North Europe. Understanding that, whilst this year has been difficult for all, these children have faced their own personal challenges and the delivery from JCT600 Brooklands – Ferrari hoped to bring smiles to faces and festive joy to the local community.
Candlelighters is a children’s cancer charity that have been supporting children and families who are affected by childhood cancer in Yorkshire for over 40 years. Each year, around 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer. Many children will be unable to enjoy a Christmas at home, and instead will be spending it on the oncology wards at Leeds Children’s Hospital away from family and friends.
The striking Christmas tree was unpacked from the Ferrari F8 Spider and delivered, with a box of beautiful red, green and white decorations ready for the children and staff at Candlelighters to decorate and enjoy together. Nodding to the Italian heritage of the Ferrari brand with a red, green and white theme, the trees will set the festive scene for everyone over the Christmas period.
Andrew Potts, General Manager, JCT600 Brooklands – Ferrari said, “This year, Christmas will be very different for many. So it’s a great pleasure for us to bring festivity to some of the children that need it the most and support such a fantastic cause, Candlelighters. Candlelighters’ work is invaluable to the children and family’s they support and we hope these gifts have brought some delight and magic to close out the year. Please show them support by donating, visit Candlelighters.org.uk.”
Francesco Balli, Regional Manager, Ferrari North Europe said, “One of the best things about Ferrari is the excitement it brings to adults and children alike; there is a very special feeling when you see and hear our beautiful cars up close. We hope that the toys and trees delivered for these children in a Ferrari brings them a moment of joy in what has been an incredibly difficult year. This gift from us is to show our appreciation for these young people and all of those who care for them.”
