Leeds-based music and entertainment platform, First Media TV, has been nominated for the Yorkshire Entertainment Awards, which takes place at Leeds Civic Hall.
The Yorkshire Entertainment Awards was created to celebrate Yorkshire talent within the fields of music, dance and film. It aims to connect the creative industries and recognise past and present talent within the region, also collaborating with educational institutions to deliver workshops based on the industry.
Taking place on Friday 12th October, the awards ceremony will feature eight categories ranging from ‘Best Male Artist’ and ‘Best Producer’ to ‘Best Upcoming’ and the prestigious ‘Generation Award’.
Nominated for ‘Best Director’, First Media TV has seen its YouTube channel grow to almost 10,000 subscribers with much of this following coming in the last 18 months. The media company describes itself as a Yorkshire-based urban music and entertainment platform, working with artists from a variety of backgrounds with the main goal of giving anybody with talent a voice.
Joshua Schmidt, CEO at First Media TV, said, “We’re honoured to have been nominated for this award and we’re very excited for the ceremony next week. I started the business in 2011 when the Leeds urban music scene was much smaller than it is now; we’ve come a long way and it’s great to see some of the local talent finally getting the appreciation they deserve. As a company we have some big plans for the next few years and we hope to play an important role in the continual growth of the urban music scene up north.”
Amongst the other nominations were Leeds-based artists Graft, Mya Craig and Denmarc Creary, along with other well-known Yorkshire artists such as Prince Omari, Deep Green and Blazer Boccle.
