Large corporates driving growth in Manchester’s Workplace

Workplace's six figure investment is attracting large corporates

An increase in large corporates opting to locate remote employees and regional office teams to Manchester co-working spaces has fuelled a six-figure refurbishment for independent executive office space, Workplace.

Since its conception, Workplace has accommodated over 200 businesses within its 9,000 sq ft offices in Churchgate House on Oxford Street, including an increasing amount of large corporates, such as global pharma and consumer healthcare business, Lonza; international fashion brand, The Escada Group; specialist insurer, Hiscox and Capita.

According to the UK Business Count 2019 (ONS) there were 22,630 businesses in Manchester in March this year and an increasing amount of these are large scale companies, choosing the city for its talent and excellent transport links.

By reinvesting back into its space, Workplace can cater fully for these larger companies, by providing the highest quality business environment and services, including a new ‘meet & greet’ reception, Skype rooms and revamped meeting and event spaces to accommodate up to 130 people.

Adrian Stevenson, director, Workplace, says: “Dispelling the myth that coworking spaces are largely for media and tech freelancers, large global entities are wanting a Manchester base, which offers flexibility while they grow. Coworking gives them the opportunity and kudos to move into a prime location in a premium space with very little financial commitment whilst they test the water. It also means that while they are are establishing themselves in the region, their professional employees working remotely are not isolated or unsupported.

“Our solution is an executive environment with uncommitted flexibility – with those extra touches, such as locally produced Worker Bee tea and coffee and support staff with hospitality experience, which add that extra layer of luxury and professionalism.

“The recent investment has enabled us to create a space that independent professionals, high level Government executives and those working for global businesses are confident in and proud of.”

The Workplace team prides itself on being able to satisfy bespoke requests – not too dissimilar to a five star hotel – everything from sorting post, to personal introductions and once tenants are ready to move to bigger premises, the Workplace team has even been known to negotiate rates with prospective landlords through their own network of contacts.

Workplace offers flexible membership where independent professionals can utilise the business lounge, as well as dedicated hotdesk spaces, private offices for up to 20 people and meeting and event space.
