Law Society vice president visits Taylor&Emmet

Taylor&Emmet LLP has welcomed the Law Society’s vice president to its offices in Sheffield, as part of a whistle-stop tour of the city.

Christina Blacklaws visited the firm to learn more about the legal landscape in the north and discuss key challenges local solicitors face.

Christina met with a cross-section of Taylor&Emmet staff, from equity partners to trainees, to find out more about the firm and its views on the issues she plans to focus on during her year as Law Society president, starting in July. These include diversity in the profession, women in leadership in law and the use of technology.

Anthony Long, Taylor&Emmet’s chief executive, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Christina and learn about the plans she has for her presidential year. This was a unique opportunity to voice our opinions on how the Law Society can best represent the region and it was very interesting to hear her thoughts on the future of the industry, as well as how we must adapt and respond to change.”

Whilst in the city, Christina met with the local Women Lawyers Division and attended Sheffield and District Law Society’s Yorkshire Law Banquet.

She added: “It was apparent from our discussions that Taylor&Emmet is a progressive, inclusive firm with a clear vision for its future. It was a pleasure to meet a number of the women who are helping to shape this vision and to see how they are embracing the use of technology to streamline services and enhance the client experience. I have been made to feel very welcome in Sheffield and will take on board the interesting views of the profession locally.”
