The team at a local opticians in Rochdale and Swinton hosted an in-store family fun day, raising over £120 for a national children’s charity.

The teams at Specsavers on Yorkshire Street and Swinton Square dressed up as Pudsey Bear on Saturday 17 November, in efforts to raise money as part of the nationwide fundraising appeal.

Face painters were on hand at the Rochdale store, alongside balloons and a children’s colouring competition, with the top prize being a Pudsey teddy bear.

Staff at the Swinton store treated the local community to a bake sale, which included brownies and cupcakes.

The fundraising initiative was launched to raise vital funds for Children in Need, which provides ongoing support to disadvantaged children in the UK.

The money raised by Specsavers will contribute towards projects that are helping children and young people facing a range of disadvantages, such as facing poverty, disabilities and illnesses, or experiencing distress, neglect or trauma.

Amanda Pedder, store director at Specsavers Swinton, says: ‘We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers for coming out to support our fundraiser. The day was filled with fun and proved to be a huge success.’

Sarah Culshaw, store director at Specsavers Rochdale, says: ‘Children in Need is a fantastic charity, and hosting a family fun day was just one of the ways that we could raise money for such a good cause.’
