Miller Homes Donates Thousands to Cornerstone Charity in Manchester

Miller Homes, who have been building award winning homes for more than 80 years, has donated £6,750 to Manchester’s Cornerstone day centre following fundraising efforts throughout the year.

The housebuilder has undertaken fundraising challenges throughout the North West, and hosted a ball in September with a charity auction to raise money to support Cornerstone in its work to provide a day centre for local vulnerable and disadvantaged adults.

Cornerstone’s aim is to provide services for those facing a wide range of social issues, including homelessness, no matter their background, age or situation. The charity helps young adults, families and disadvantaged adults in the area by providing a hub of support and education in a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment. Besides running a day centre and safe haven night shelter, Cornerstone also runs an education programme for clients as well as offering life skills lessons and one-on-one support. A computer suite is available, as well as access to optometrists, dentists, barbers and a night shelter.

Ian Smith, Managing Director of Miller Homes in the North West, comments: “We are delighted to be supporting Cornerstone this year. The work they do to support people who have fallen into disadvantageous situations is remarkable, and we are proud to be able to give back and support their kindness.”

Angela MacIntyre, Operations Manager at Cornerstone, adds: “We’re incredibly grateful to the team at Miller Homes for their generosity. This is the most difficult time of year for homeless people, so to receive such a boost in our funding right now is wonderful.”

Miller Homes have recently announced that they will be building new homes in Stretford on the site of the former Itron gas meter factory on Talbot Road. The planned 282 new homes will support the wider regeneration masterplan for Stretford.
