CyberWhite, a cyber security specialist based in Middlesbrough, has named cashless aid charity Nite Light, as its designated charity for 2022.

The directors of the firm, which has previously fundraised for Mental Health Concern and Saltburn Cricket Club, were keen to offer support to a local charity, and found the team at Nite Light in their own building, Boho 5.

Nite Light was established in April 2020, after a group of friends decided to hand out hygiene products to homeless people in Middlesbrough. After receiving a grant from Middlesbrough Council and registering with the Charities Commission, the team set up their cashless aid scheme, allowing people to buy meal vouchers and hygiene bags for those in need.

The charity also runs a free market stall in the town on a Thursday and is looking to expand into the rest of Tees Valley over the coming months.

Nite Light has helped more than 14,000 since its inception and sees nearly 100 people per week who are in need of basic supplies.

Matt Hewison, a director at CyberWhite said: “We want to be a good neighbour to our local community, and when we saw the fantastic work Nite Light is doing in Middlesbrough, we wanted to help.

“In addition to fundraising, we’re helping to transport items from Boho 5 to the market stall and have supported the team on a Thursday to run the stall.

“The cashless aid Nite Light offers doesn’t cost a lot, so I’d urge anyone who has a spare couple of quid to go to the website and buy a snack, a meal or a hygiene bag for someone in need.”

Nadia Gibnay, director at Nite Light, said: “People are often concerned about how best to help homeless people. We wanted to take some of the anxiety out of the donation process by showing exactly what the recipient would get, be that food, drink or hygiene products.

“We have had great success at our market stall, and would like to say a big thank you to CyberWhite for their help transporting goods, running the stall, and pledging to adopt us as their charity for 2022.”

CyberWhite is a digital security consultancy firm with offices in Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
