Newcastle-based North P&I Club has brought in a new Chief Information Officer (CIO) from Greggs to drive the business IT strategy and further enhance service delivery.

James Holmes joins the marine insurer as CIO after 16 years at Greggs, the UK’s leading food-on-the go retailer. James will provide long-term strategic direction for the continuing development of North’s IT and digital infrastructure and systems across its worldwide network of offices. North has regional offices and subsidiaries in China (Hong Kong and Shanghai), Greece, Japan and Singapore, as well as Sunderland Marine offices worldwide.
Based at North’s headquarters on Newcastle’s Quayside, the new CIO role is an important addition to North’s senior management team.

James commented on his appointment: “I’m delighted to be appointed CIO and I am looking forward to utilising my previous experience in business transformation and technology to benefit the business. One of my priorities will be the delivery of the current business system upgrade which will see new systems and processes rolled out across the business later in the year. My focus moving forward will be to work with other members of the senior management team to ensure that the IT strategy supports the needs of the business.

“North P&I Club is a great local company with a long history and it was apparent during the interview process that it was a good cultural fit for me.”

Paul Jennings, Joint Managing Director of North P&I, added: “This new CIO role will help ensure that we develop our technical IT capabilities in line with our business growth, and continue towards achieving our strategy to provide the highest level of cost effective service to Members. We are delighted to have James join us at this exciting time in our development.”
