A Leeds-based oven cleaning business has strengthened its team after a sustained increase in customer demand led to bookings stretching several weeks in advance.
Ovenu Leeds North West, owned by Dean Chew, has recruited an additional oven technician to support its growing client base. The move follows the business surpassing 2,000 five-star reviews on customer feedback platform, Trustist.
Chew said the growth in demand had resulted in longer working hours and weekend appointments to maintain service levels.
“Demand has grown significantly, which is fantastic, but it’s also meant long days and working weekends to ensure I don’t let clients down,” he said.
“As the business has grown, it’s been really important to make sure we have the right people in place who share our commitment to quality. Bringing Tom on board, with all his experience, means we can continue delivering high standards, while increasing our availability.
“Reaching over 2,000 maximum five-star reviews is a huge milestone for the business and something I’m incredibly proud of. It reflects the care and attention we put into every job.”
The business has appointed experienced oven technician Tom Dunning, who has recently returned to Leeds from Cambridgeshire. His arrival is expected to help reduce waiting times while supporting further growth.
Dunning added: “I’ve previously worked as an oven cleaner, so I’m looking forward to getting started straight away to both meet demand and help the business expand further.”
Chew took ownership of the franchised business in 2020, having previously worked as an oven technician. His career spans multiple sectors, including 19 years as a stage technician with Opera North and Northern Ballet, as well as roles in television props.
He also has a background in healthcare, having worked as an NHS orthopaedic plaster technician and returning to frontline duties during the Covid-19 pandemic, completing a 12-week locum role with York and Scarborough Hospital Trust.
Ovenu Leeds North West serves a wide area including Horsforth, Yeadon, Pudsey, Farsley, Morley, Ilkley and Otley, The cleaning process involves dismantling key oven components and treating them in specialist tank equipment using non-caustic and biodegradable products. It also provides cleaning services for hobs, extractor hoods, microwaves and range cookers.
