Parallax raise over £600 for homeless in Leeds

Leeds based business Parallax have raised over £675 as part of their annual partnership with St. George’s Crypt to offer free food to those who need it most.

Now in its 4th year Parallax have doubled their previous years target with enough donations to host a 3 course meal for the residents and homeless guests of St. George’s Crypt, purchase of equipment for the kitchen and winter essentials such as warm hats, gloves, socks and scarves to give out to the homeless on the streets of Leeds.

Jamie Sefton Head of Backend Development at Parallax and project leader for the Free Food at the Crypt fundraiser commented “ Following our own Free Food in the Park event back in the summer of 2016, we went on to join forces with the Crypt that Christmas, helping out in their canteen and serving up trays of piping hot food. Free Food at the Crypt 2016 and 2017 were both a tremendous success – now we’d like to replicate that a fourth time.

The winter months can be particularly difficult for homeless people in Leeds. There are several excellent charities working across the city who continue to do their best to ensure the most vulnerable people are warm, sheltered and fed. Without the continuous support of people willing to give up their time or money, the amazing work they do simply wouldn’t be possible. So we’re pleased to be partnering with St. George’s Crypt for Free Food at the Crypt again”

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, as of January 2018 the number of homeless people on the streets of Leeds has increased for the second year in a row. These statistics reflect a growing need to help and support disadvantaged people in Leeds.
