PKF Geoffrey Martin & Co help secure jobs in Yorkshire food firm

James Sleight and Peter Hart from Leeds-based restructuring specialists PKF Geoffrey Martin & Co have completed the sale of the business and assets of Yorkshire Game 17 Limited, including the retail brand “Wild” to Gressingham Game, part of the Gressingham Foods group.

Under the terms of the acquisition, Gressingham Game has entered into a new lease for Yorkshire Game 17 Limited’s premises at Brompton on Swale in North Yorkshire, and has taken on all employees of the business saving approximately 25 jobs.

Gressingham Foods, the owner of Gressingham Game, has long been associated with game, having previously included game birds in its product portfolio and, through this new venture, is committed to developing the best wild game and venison products for the nation.

Co-owner and joint Managing Director William Buchanan commented: “Our aim with Gressingham Game is to build on the tremendous success we have enjoyed over the last 20 years introducing more and more people to the great taste of duck.”

James Sleight, partner at PKF Geoffrey Martin & Co, said: “We’ve been pleased to work alongside management of both Gressingham Game and Yorkshire Game to enable this transaction to take place. Most importantly, we’ve helped secure the jobs of a loyal workforce and allowed the business and brand to continue.
