Podiatrists Step Towards Success with New Aesthetic Foot Care Offering

Practice owner, Catherine Yates, with patient, Marie Sanderson

Blackburn-based podiatry practice, Pear Tree Podiatry, has invested in a brand refresh following increased demand from customers in search of cosmetic treatments for their feet.

Growing demand for services such as toenail reconstruction and hot wax treatments to intensively moisturise dry skin, means that the firm, which has a team of five, is looking to add a new clinic room and attract more trained chiropodists to the premises on Mincing Lane.

Announcing the changes on International Podiatry Day (8 October), practice owner, Catherine Adams, says: “We’re finding that more youngsters are self-conscious of their feet, perhaps because of social media pressure and trends for restrictive shoes. Our core business has always been the over 65s and people who have to work on their feet all day, but foot health is important for all ages, which is why we’re getting involved with the #FeetMatter social media campaign, which is part of this awareness day.

“Our new website and signage reflects the fact that we help all kinds of people to keep their feet in the best possible condition. We’re also looking to work with organisations in Blackburn that are keen on investing in the health of their employees as well as care homes in the local area.”

Catherine launched the business in 2008 after working for ten years in the NHS as a HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registered podiatrist. An active committee member of The College of Podiatry, Catherine represented the Lancashire branch at their centenary, meeting their patron, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall for afternoon tea. In addition to treating clients at the clinic, Pear Tree Podiatry also offers home and hospital visits by request and special discounts for nursing homes and sheltered housing groups.
