Rotherham’s ‘Gala Performance Motorsport’ race team has secured its first podium finish at the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) and C1 Racing Club’s increasingly popular Trade Team C1 Challenge*, held at the Pembrey Circuit in Wales, after only ever competing in three races!
Working closely with 2015, GT Cup champion Rob Gaffney of Amigo Motorsport, the team secured second place overall, following seven hours of racing that took place over two days recently.
Part of Gala Tent based in the Dearne Valley, Gala Performance Motorsport is made up of three directors from the leading motorsports awning and equipment supplier Gala Performance, consisting of Glen Robinson, Managing Director of Gala Graphics, the company’s print business and Gala Tent Director Andrew Scott and Managing Director Mark Thompson.
Mark Thompson, Managing Director of Gala Tent, said, “We’re absolutely thrilled and genuinely surprised with how quickly this great result has come in. If we keep improving as we have been then it can only be a matter of time before we’re on the top step of the podium!”
The team will now go on to compete in the next round of the C1 Challenge, which will be their fourth race in total, taking place at the Snetterton Circuit on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August.

The Trade Team C1 Challenge* is designed to provide a low cost method of going endurance racing. Making use of the C1 car with very limited modifications this series offers an excellent affordable way to go racing.
This series of races will visit Pembrey, Croft and Snetterton circuits, plus three 24 hour races held at Rockingham Motor Speedway and Spa Francorchamps in Belgium..
