Team Valley-based copy, print and scan management company, SOS Group, has entered into what it hopes will be a long-term partnership with Newcastle Eagles – the most successful team in British basketball history.

SOS Group has a growing reputation in the sporting events sector and has provided digital office equipment services at competitions including the IAAF World Athletics Championships, the Special Olympics GB National Games, British Swimming Summer Championships and World Para Athletics Championships.

This weekend (1-3 March), it is providing and servicing 31 devices to help facilitate the European Athletics Indoor Championships across six venues in Glasgow, producing press handouts, result sheets and information for athletes.

Now the company is linking with the Eagles to provide services at the club’s magnificent new Eagles Community Arena in Newcastle and for Andrew Skelton, director at SOS Group, it’s a natural fit.

Andrew says: “The Eagles are very much part of the sporting landscape of this region and we’re very proud to be working with them.

“They embody an inclusiveness which we wholeheartedly support and their Foundation does great work in the local community.

“And, as if all that wasn’t enough, the new arena is just 50 yards from where I grew up, so I feel very at home in the new arena.”

The Eagles Community Arena incorporates a 2,200m2 hall space with 2,800 seats, equalling the largest indoor hall space in the region and providing a fitting home for the Eagles, which is the most successful professional sports team in the North East.

It is also a base for the Eagles Community Foundation charitable trust and provides a sports participation space for Newcastle College, one of the biggest further education establishments in the country.

Paul Blake, Managing Director of Newcastle Eagles, says: “We’re delighted to be working with SOS Group at the new Eagles Community Arena.

“We’re always keen to partner with organisations that are supporting sport both regionally and nationally and look forward to a healthy future at the club and Eagles Community Foundation with SOS.”

SOS Group was recently recognised in two prestigious categories in the Tyne and Wear Business Awards, receiving both the Best Gateshead Company Award and the Community Fund Award. It will now go on to compete in the England Business Awards Grand Final in York.

Launched in 2002, to supply digital office equipment, related software and support, SOS Group services ‘blue chip’ clients nationally and, increasingly, internationally.

It employs 23 staff and services include document management, scanning, cost consultation, managed print services and supplying and maintaining leading brand digital office equipment. It is an accredited Kyocera UK agent and Lexmark approved partner.
