Specsavers to open Urmston branch

Specsavers, the UK’s leading opticians, is opening a new branch in Urmston on 4 March.

The store, which will be located on Eden Square, will be run by Steven Dare and Kevin Liu, who currently head up the Sale & Altrincham branches, and Tom Crowther. The three directors have more than 25 years of optical experience between them.

The new store is set to bring 7 jobs to the local community and represents a £400,000 investment into Urmston’s healthcare provision.

Optical equipment will include an advanced eye scanning system, The Optical Co-herence Tomography (OCT) machine, which is usually found in hospital eye depart-ments. The OCT machine can detect eye conditions including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

The new store, which will be open seven days a week, will boast two state-of-the-art test rooms, with a capacity to grow over time, complete with a specialist audiology centre, which will be available two days a week. To meet customer demand, the store has ambitious plans to expand its hearing service.

To mark the opening of the new store, the Specsavers Urmston team will be hosting an in-store family fun day on Saturday 16 March.

Steven Dare, store director, says: ‘We’ve been looking after the eye care needs of the Sale & Altrincham communities for the last 4 years, so it’s fantastic that we can extend this service to another location.

‘Current Specsavers Sale & Altrincham customers will recognise a few friendly faces if they visit us in Urmston, and we also look forward to welcoming new customers. Our team has a wealth of experience and knowledge and will certainly be able to deliver a fantastic service that Greater Manchester has come to expect from Specsavers.’
