It’s gold for employees at EDF Energy Doxford, who are celebrating after being recognised in a company-wide scheme, which rewards colleagues who go the extra mile.
The ‘Going for Gold’ scheme was introduced by the company in 2016 to reward those who go above and beyond in their community, through their fundraising efforts and charity work.
This year, 12 employees at EDF Energy Doxford secured awards. Gavin Anderson, Vicky Robinson, Nicola Robinson and Lisa Sidney all bagged the highest gold rating, while six employees were recognised with a silver award, and two with bronze.
Awards are given to employees who dedicate much of their time both inside work and in their own time to trying to make a difference in their community, whether it be through organising fundraisers, collecting donations, or volunteering their time.
Lisa Sidney, team manager at EDF Energy Doxford, was delighted to win the gold award for the second year in a row.
She said: “It is an amazing feeling to have won this award twice. I am incredibly proud to have been recognised again this year. My colleagues have fully supported me with every fundraiser and every idea I’ve had.
“Without them, and their willingness to get involved, the fundraisers wouldn’t go ahead. I am grateful that I work with colleagues who are so enthusiastic to take part in fundraising and charitable activities.
“Fundraisers and charity events are hugely popular with my colleagues. It’s brilliant that in the process of having fun through these activities, we are also working together to raise money for worthwhile causes.”
Lisa, who has worked for EDF Energy Doxford for 15 years, has organised dozens of charitable events, including bake sales, raffles, quizzes and has even taken part in a skydive. With Lisa’s leadership and the help of her colleagues, employees have raised over £13,800 for Breast Cancer Now, the company’s charity partner.
Celebratory lunches were held for the Going for Gold award winners in London, Barnwood in Gloucester, and Doxford.
Kevin Gatens, head of customer service at EDF Energy Doxford said: “Since launching in 2016, the awards have become a much looked forward to event within EDF Energy. They bring colleagues together from sites across the UK and are a great way to recognise and celebrate employees who have gone the extra mile.
“It’s fantastic to see so many Doxford employees commended this year for their efforts and achievements.”
Natasha Robson, Marc Lofthouse, Kate MacPherson, Christine Muldown, Allison Chisnall and Lesley Colley, who are also employees at EDF Energy Doxford, secured the silver award, while Angela Kerr and Michael Lorenz received a bronze award.
Sara Winter, who works for EDF Energy Renewables in Sunderland also secured a silver award.
Overall, 122 people were recognised in the company scheme, which included 23 gold awards, 60 silver awards, and 39 bronze awards.
