Wellington Place makes it mark on Leeds

In support of Mental Health Awareness Day Developer and Asset Manager, MEPC, is hosting the first ever colouring flash mob event in Leeds to raise funds for local mental health charity, Leeds Mind.

Taking place on 10th October between 12pm – 2pm at Wellington Place, the people of Leeds will be encouraged to grab a pen and head down to Wellington Place to help colour in a giant Leeds city centre scene.

The interactive colouring session aims to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and the positive effects that colouring and community has on wellbeing, including the reduction of anxiety and helping to achieve mindfulness. During the session there will be an opportunity to meet new people and raise funds for Leeds Mind.

Corporate Wellbeing company Mind It will also be in the reception of 2 and 6 Wellington Place on the day to provide information to companies on the strategies and workshops they offer to help improve health in the workplace.

Dominique Simcox, Head of Customer Experience at MEPC Wellington Place, said: “Mental Health Awareness Day offers the perfect opportunity to engage with the business community on this important subject and what better way to do it than with a therapeutic session of colouring in.

“The event not only gives people a chance to support a great local charity but also to help to improve their mental health by taking some time out of their working day to focus on mindfulness.”

Gemma Green, Fundraising Officer at Leeds Mind, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Wellington Place for the first ever colouring flash mob in Leeds. It’s encouraging to see that employers, such as Wellington Place, understand the importance of mental health and are raising awareness in the region in such a fun and positive way. We hope that the event is successful in promoting positive mental health across the development and across the city.”
