Yorkshire automation component provider finish year on a high

Martyn Nixon, SMC Business Development Manager (left) and Gordon Watson, SMS Machine Automation MD, shake hands as SMS awarded Platinum Integrator Partner status from SMC.

SMS Machine Automation (SMS) are celebrating two trade partnership deals that will provide further opportunities for development and expansion in 2020 and beyond in the field of process automation and motion control.

In short the deals not only open more doors for SMS but also add credence to what they do in terms of being an innovative and intelligent machine and sub-assembly designer and manufacturer. With the in-house expertise it also makes us the ideal choice as a technical parts distributor as our sales engineers can advise and help select the right product for customer applications.

The deal with ABB sees SMS awarded the prestigious AVP (ABB Value Partner) title for Motion, a wide encompassing bracket that comprises many products, we can offer the highest level of service available in the UK, from November 2019 SMS are the direct point of contact for these products which will no longer be available directly from ABB. SMS will also perform the technical support function for Motion products which will see them providing remote and on-site support for customers of ABB Motion products.

The SMC deal grants SMS the title of Platinum Integrator Partner, a title which direct provides access to a huge portfolio of parts, technical expertise and a number of technical enquiries that SMC do not have the expertise or capacity to handle directly.

SMS director, Gordon Watson, says “We find ourselves in a fantastic position as we exit 2019, not only is the market thirstier than ever for automation, but these accolades add weight to SMS’s offering and are the latest fruits of 20 years hard work in this field.”
Marketing and communications lead, Simon Wakefield, says “All the team at SMS are excited with the new deal and the increased activity it will bring to the business. It’s great that a small business like ours in South Yorkshire is recognised by a company like ABB as a high-tech business capable of delivering support, providing products and engineering services to their high expectations. This will surely bring growth for SMS in turnover, activity and headcount. It will also provide further training opportunities for existing personnel.”
