Yorkshire Coast BID is funding a special festive train that has arrived in Scarborough this Christmas to encourage people back to the high street

Yorkshire Coast BID has brought Santa’s elves to Scarborough this Christmas with a special festive experience to help drive footfall to the high street.

This free interactive experience gives children the chance to send their Christmas wish lists straight to the North Pole. The Christmas Express is easily accessible and is perfect for young families, the idea is to provide local residents with a great reason to visit their high street and support local businesses this Christmas, whilst also enjoying some festive fun.

Each magical session on the Christmas Express will last 20 minutes and is open to book timeslots from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday – Fridays until December 19.

Families can enjoy writing their letters to Santa with the Christmas elves and watch as they fly off to the North Pole.

To keep in line with social distancing measures, numbers will be limited for each session and bookings will need to be made in advance with a maximum party of five.

All the elves will be wearing full PPE as well as face masks being required for visitors to keep everyone safe.

To bring some festive cheer and support to town centres this Christmas, the Yorkshire Coast BID team has partnered with City Dressing to provide the fully decorated train carriages and really bring the Christmas Express to life.

Clive Rowe-Evan, Chairman of Yorkshire Coast BID, added: “This year has been particularly difficult and has hit everyone, including our local residents and businesses.

“As a BID we want to do anything we can to make the festive period special for the community and bring new experiences to and support the town centres in a safe way that has been made possible with the support of Scarborough businesses.”
