A Yorkshire legal firm has raised over £10k for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund having completed a gruelling 195-mile bike ride to support the charity.
15 legal professionals from Switalskis Solicitors, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary year, took to the saddle to take the three-day Tour de Swits cycle challenge, visiting 10 of its 13 offices along the route.
Switalskis has exceeded its original fundraising target of £2.5k, raising over £10k for the Yorkshire charity, which supports children and adults born with congenital heart disease. Sponsored by Allianz Insurance, 7 Bedford Row and Nestor, the team set off from its Huddersfield office on 9th May and finished at Paradise Square, Sheffield, on 11th May, cycling 65 miles a day on average.
Sian Morris, legal executive at Switalskis, who is a keen cyclist and who took part in the Tour de Swits challenge, says: “The riders trained extremely hard for the last six months despite the inclement weather conditions and have wholeheartedly embraced the challenge. To mark Switalskis’ quarter of a century anniversary year in this way and to have exceeded our fundraising target for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund is very special for all involved.”
Switalskis has confirmed that the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund is the firm’s chosen charity for a second year and aims to exceed £20k of funds over the two years.
Says Sharon Coyle, CEO from Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, “This is a fantastic challenge and it means a great deal to the charity that the team has gone to these great lengths to raise money to support the work we do. Its target of raising £20k over two years will be the largest corporate financial commitment we have ever received. This donation will go towards supporting children and families during their stay in hospital as well as supporting important research and funding new equipment and resources.”
