Logic-i Group, the project management specialist, has been appointed by Tees Valley Lithium to provide independent cost estimate assurance and validation services for its Tees Valley Lithium (TVL) Project at Billingham, Teesside.
Headquartered in Yarm, Logic-i Group’s involvement in the nationally significant energy transition project reflects its continued expansion into the green energy and low-carbon infrastructure sectors.
Its role is to independently assess whether project costs are realistic, complete and aligned with the delivery strategy, strengthening governance and investor confidence.
Logic-i Group and Tees Valley Lithium will also explore opportunities to extend the relationship through pre-construction, construction and into operational phases.
The TVL Project is set to become Britain’s first large-scale lithium hydroxide refinery, producing battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate for the rapidly growing electric vehicle and battery storage markets. Developed by Tees Valley Lithium, a subsidiary of Alkemy Capital Investments, the project aims to reduce the UK and Europe’s reliance on overseas lithium refining and establish Teesside as a major hub in the low-carbon battery materials supply chain.
Under the initial scope of services, Logic-i Group will deliver a comprehensive cost estimate assurance and validation exercise aligned with AACE Recommended Practices. It will focus on decision quality, cost driver behaviour and delivery realism, providing investors and governance boards with a clear view of capital cost estimate as it progresses toward the pre-construction and construction phases.
Phase one of the TVL Project is expected to produce approximately 25,000 tonnes per year of battery-grade lithium hydroxide – enough to support around 500,000 electric vehicles annually – with plans to scale production to 100,000 tonnes per year in later phases. Following pre-construction, construction is anticipated to begin later this year, with initial production expected in 2028.
