TaperedPlus welcomes back Tim Broughton as Financial Controller

TaperedPlus has announced that Tim Broughton has rejoined the business as Financial Controller, returning to the Teesside-headquartered firm after a period of self-employment.

Broughton first joined the company in 2022 as Commercial Finance Business Partner, where he played a key role in developing its in-house finance function. He later left to launch his own accountancy services business but will now return to the company full-time at the end of March to succeed Stuart Mitton, who is retiring.

Having supported the business – a UK leader in flat roofing design and insulation systems – on a part-time basis since January, Broughton’s return is intended to ensure a smooth transition within the finance team.

In his new role, he will take overall responsibility for financial operations, including accounts, reporting and audits, while helping to strengthen governance as the business continues to grow.

Aman Chahall, CEO of TaperedPlus, said: “Tim made a real impact during his first spell with us as we grew the in-house finance function. The fact that he chose to return in a senior capacity speaks volumes about our culture, direction and the opportunities that lie ahead.

“I’d also like to extend a huge thanks to Stuart. His experience and strategic guidance have enhanced our financial controls, helping the business expand. We wish him every happiness in his retirement.”

Broughton, who is originally from Middlesbrough, said returning to the business felt like a natural progression.

He said: “At the time, moving into self-employment was the right decision for myself and my family, giving greater flexibility while broadening my commercial experience.

“But when the opportunity came to return, it felt like a natural next step. TaperedPlus has continued to evolve, and I’m looking forward to leading the finance function, building on the strong foundations in place and supporting the leadership team as the business moves forward.”

Founded in 2014 by Aman Chahall and Rob Vass, TaperedPlus also operates a technical design studio in Wolverhampton. In 2023, the B Corps certified business secured a £5.5 million investment from BGF to accelerate its digital transformation, expand its nationwide technical sales team and support continued growth.
