GMI Construction Group has secured places on all four lots it bid for under the new Crescent Construction framework, strengthening its ability to deliver public-sector projects across the North of England and Midlands.
The contractor, with offices in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Stockton-on-Tees, has been appointed to two NEC4 contract routes in each region.
Operated by Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC), the framework provides public-sector organisations with a compliant and streamlined route to procure new-build, refurbishment and wider capital works projects.
GMI’s appointments cover the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract with Professional Services Contract and the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract with Design and Build in both the North and Midlands.
Unlike many construction frameworks, the lots are not divided into project value bands, giving GMI the opportunity to support clients across a broad range of project sizes throughout its established regional operating areas.
The framework can be accessed by education providers and organisations across the wider public sector, including schools, colleges, universities, local authorities and blue-light services.
GMI’s appointment comes as the business continues to expand its public-sector portfolio. More than one in four of its live construction projects – 26% – are currently being delivered for public-sector clients.
These have been secured through a combination of construction frameworks, direct awards and traditional competitive tenders.
The Crescent Construction framework provides GMI with another route to work with existing clients, develop new public-sector relationships and become involved earlier in the planning and development of capital projects.

The Crescent Construction framework supports both new-build and refurbishment projects and provides clients with a choice of procurement and call-off routes, including direct award and further competition.
