Bradford based law firm raises £ thousands for local hospice

Skipton, Keighley and Bradford based law firm AWB Charlesworth Solicitors are delighted that their 3 offices have collectively raised almost £8,500 worth of donations for Martin House Hospice from events held throughout 2015. Partner Liam O’Neill was delighted to be able to present the cheque to John Haigh, Corporate Fundraiser at Martin House Hospice this week.

AWB Charlesworth Solicitors have been supporters of the Yorkshire based Charity for a number of years now and will continue to raise money for such a worthy cause. Martin House Hospice provides family led care for children with life-limiting conditions. It is a place where children, young people and their families can stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help.

The firm’s 2015 events calendar included a bake off, cake sales; Rugby World Cup sweepstake; clothes donation days; auctioning of a tablet; Christmas card donations and a Christmas Jumper day.

The most notable events of the year which the firm took part in were the ‘Dragon Boat Race’ and the charity Golf Day hosted jointly by AWB Charlesworth and business friends Skipton Accountants Pearson & Associates.

The Charity Golf day was attended by teams from Barclays, Armstrong Watson and Bluefin Insurance to name a few, and is set to become an annual event which will be held again for a 3rd time at the end of June this year. It has proved to be a day filled with fun, competition, raffle prizes, food and drinks.

Liam O’Neill, partner at AWB Charlesworth said “it is difficult, if you have either visited Martin House or become aware of the work they do, not to want to support that wonderful work. I’m glad that as a firm we’ve been able to make a contribution and we’ll continue to support the Hospice going forward”.

Speaking after receiving the cheque, John Haigh, Corporate Fundraiser at Martin House, said “Many thanks to everyone at AWB Charlesworth for supporting us throughout 2015. The team have worked really hard to raise a fantastic amount of money by organising a wide variety of events and fundraising activity.  They also joined in with some of the events that the hospice organised, supporting us on many different levels, which we really appreciate. This money will go a long way to supporting the children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across the Yorkshire region.  Our services are provided free of charge, 365 days a year, and families can choose to receive our support in their home or at the hospice.  We rely almost entirely on voluntary donations to keep the hospice running, so the support from  AWB Charlesworth is very much valued by us all.”
