Business merge creates new senior role at North East recruitment firm

Ian Lewis and Chris Stappard of Edward Reed Recruitment.

In a strategic move to expand market share in the North East’s recruitment sector, Laurus Executive Search has successfully merged with Edward Reed Recruitment.

Edward Reed, which specialises in mid to senior level management placements across a variety of industry sectors, attracted private investment earlier in the year. The merge with Laurus Executive Search will allow Edward Reed to solidify its market position and effectively grow its business faster.

Ian Lewis, Director at Laurus Executive Search has been a shareholder and director at Edward Reed since its inception. The merger has enabled Ian to enter the business full-time as director, bringing over 30 years’ experience in the recruitment sector to the table. He said:

“By merging Laurus and Edward Reed together, Edward Reed can now provide a fully inclusive management and executive board level recruitment solution for businesses needing to hire high-calibre individuals in general management, non-executive, finance, HR, operations, sales and marketing and IT disciplines.

“We have approached this merger with the philosophy that two plus two equals five, there is strength in numbers and by pooling our resources, we are in a better position to drive the business forward and expand our services into new areas.

“My focus, as it was at Laurus, will continue to be the recruitment of executive board and non-executive positions. I will also lend strategic support to Chris and the rest of the team as we continue to grow the business and our headcount.”

Chris Stappard, managing director at Edward Reed Recruitment, added:

“This is a really exciting time for Edward Reed.

“As a company, Edward Reed looks completely different now to how it did six months ago. Key investment and the subsequent merger with Laurus Executive Search, has opened a wealth of opportunities for us to recruit some of the most senior positions in the North East market and even expand our reach beyond the region.

“Bringing Ian into the business at this time has enabled us to manage this growth efficiently while maintaining our retained service to our clients as we continue to establish ourselves as the market’s leading executive recruitment consultancy.”

Edward Reed is actively looking to recruit more new staff by the end of the year.
